Brett Siewertsen Latest to Join the 'Bolts Blue Line Brigade

EVANSVILLE, IN— With the countdown now fully underway for their anxiously anticipated premiere as fledgling members of the elite junior hockey league, the NA3HL, the Evansville ThunderBolts are continuing to make outstanding additions to their initial roster for the rapidly-approaching 2015-16 campaign.

On this date, ThunderBolts General Manager/Head Coach Scott Fankhouser has announced that Evansville has signed yet another top-drawer defenseman. The latest new addition to the Coach’s growing blue line brigade is BRETT SIEWERTSEN. The latter’s commitment to the ThunderBolts comes less than a week following the signing of standout defensemen TRISTON THERIOT.

SIEWERTSEN, (SUE-ert-senn), 19, is recognized as a solid, versatile defenseman expected to provide some outstanding team solidarity through his experienced leadership skills. The 5-11, 176lb American-bred has been captain of his Lansing Spartans 18U club in the NJPHL (National Junior Prospects Hockey League) for the past two seasons, leading his club to the USA Hockey AA Nationals. In 2014-15, he averaged over a point per game from the back end. In 19-games, he engineered 20-points on 3-goals, 17-assists while garnering 28-PIM. One year previously for the same Lansing team, SIEWERTSEN registered 10-points in 20-appearances through 3-goals, 7-assists, accumulating 31-PIM.

Coach Fankhouser is expressing much enthusiasm in his most recent signing for the defense. I am very excited to add Brett to the ThunderBolts lineup. He is a strong skating, solid defenseman who can do absolutely everything! Brett was the captain of the Lansing Spartans team which participated in the USA Hockey AA Nationals. I look forward to helping in the development of Brett this season as well as helping him to achieve his goals of higher hockey. Along with the other defensemen who we have signed, Brett gives us more punch offensively and is very physically strong in the “D” zone. Moreover, along with Brett’s playing ability, he will add great leadership in our locker room and on the bench.”

BRETT SIEWERTSEN will be on the ice at the ThunderBolts home of Swonder Ice Arena when the team’s inaugural training camp opens the week of August 17th.

This weekend, the ThunderBolts will be conducting a Tryout Camp at Swonder; Saturday, August 15th from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm and 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm; Sunday, August 16th  from 8:00am – 9:00 am and 11:45 am – 12:45 am.

Player registration begins at 9:30 am Saturday. All ThunderBolts Tryout Camp sessions are open free to the public and all Evansville hockey fans are encouraged to attend to welcome the elite junior ‘Bolts.
