Evansville's New Elite Junior NA3HL Team Signs Two More Forwards

EVANSVILLE, IN— The beat goes on for the Evansville ThunderBolts as they continue to prepare for their inaugural season as an expansion franchise in the elite junior hockey league, the NA3HL. Team roster building is becoming paramount at this off-season juncture and the ThunderBolts are definitely on the case with the player signings of two more forwards today.

On this date, ThunderBolts General Manager/Head Coach Scott Fankhouser has announced that forwards BRETT
HOWARD, JR., and JOEY SORENSON have been tendered and will be reporting for the hockey club’s initial training camp at the ‘Bolts home of Swonder Ice Arena on August 15th.

HOWARD, JR., is expected to evolve into a player of major impact for the hometown team after playing last season, 2014-15, with the Salt Lake City Moose of the WSHL. In 40-games with the Utah city contingent, the native Texas product authored 8-goals, 7-assists, 15-points while accruing 89-PIM. GM/Coach Fankhouser’s scouting report on HOWARD, reflects his elation of having HOWARD on his side. “I have watched Brett play for the last two seasons and felt he is the right player to bring to Evansville to create a great identity for our inaugural season. He is going to be an impact player not only on the score sheet but physically as well. Brett will be a huge asset in the locker room, with his junior experience and drive to always improve. He will show some of our first year junior players what it takes to be successful at this level. I’m very happy to have him be a part of our team and look forward to his development.”

SORENSON, is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio and saw action last campaign with the Wooster (Ohio) Oilers of the MNJHL and was also part of the Cincinnati Swords U16 team. In Wooster, SORENSON essayed 2-goals, 2-assists, 4-points in 26-games, collecting 25-PIM. Coach Fankhouser envisions plenty of potential for his new ‘Bolts forward. “Joey is a big kid with lots of potential. He has a year of junior hockey under his belt and is looking for a breakout season. The thing I notice most about him is his size and speed. I think these are just some of building blocks for a great power forward. I am happy to add another player with some valuable junior experience and someone who is in the Tri-State area. Joey is extremely hard-working and dedicated player who knows what he wants out of this season and I look forward to helping him achieve those goals.”

The ThunderBolts newest acquisitions, forwards BRETT HOWARD, JR., and JOEY SORENSON will be at the starting gate when the junior hockey club launches its first-ever training camp, Saturday, August 15th at Swonder Ice Arena.
