Bryson Linenburg came up big, stopping 39 of 42 shots throughout the game. The Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from Mickey Zahoran.
Brandon Rozema chipped in with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and Christian Alvegran did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
In the first period, Alvegran opened the scoring for Evansville with a goal at 0:24 with helpers from teammates Rozema and Rowe. Cardinale Iii deposited a goal at 3:40 with helpers from Rozema and Caito. Rozema netted a goal at 13:31 with assists from Alvegran and Davenport.
In the second, Stepp finally put Point Mallard on the board with a goal at 6:50 with a helper from defenseman Goodman. Kendall quickly followed with a goal at 7:39 with assists from his linemates, Dlugach and Evans.
During the third period, Zahoran answered for the Jr. Thunderbolts with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 5:49 with helpers from his linemates, Cody and Kowalski. Landers answered for the Ducks with a goal at 17:05 with an assist from Scherberger.
Evansville’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Linenburg’s big night as he stopped 39 of the 42 shots he faced. Linenburg’s counterpart, Bernardini, also had a big night, managing to stop 36 of 39, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts’ record to (16-31-1-1).
