Thunderbolts Bring Jon Grimm Back Home

The Evansville Thunderbolts are proud to announce that they have traded for hometown player Forward Jon Grimm for the 2015-2016 season. Grimm (5'11", 165) played for the Texas Junior Brahmas in the NA3HL for the 2014-2015 season. In 43 games Jon recorded 6 goals and 12 assists for a total of 18 points.  In his high school career he played 76 games with Evansville Thunder, posting 43 goals and 44 assists amassing a total of 87 points.  Grimm is the Thunderbolts first acquisition. 


“I felt it was important for our organization to do everything it could to get Jon back in Evansville, especially for our first season”, said Thunderbolts Head Coach and GM Scott Fankhouser. “I am very impressed with Grimm. Everyone I’ve spoken with also speaks very highly of his skill on the ice and maturity off the ice. We made a trade and are proud to have Jon back and ready to lead the Thunderbolt charge in our inaugural season. I see great things coming for Jon and Evansville this season and I am sure we will see many Grimm jerseys in the stands.”


Jon is the first player to sign with the Evansville Thunderbolts. Look for several more announcements to follow shortly.

Introducing ThunderBolts Head Coach: Scott Fankhouser

Scott Fankhouser assumes the position of Head Coach and General Manager of the Evansville Thunderbolts with a wealth of professional playing experience as goaltender and a coaching track record emphasizing consistent development and promotion of players to higher levels of hockey. After playing prep school, Juniors and Division I college hockey, Scott played 410 games in ten years professionally at all top North American professional level and overseas. Drafted from Loomis Chafee by the St. Louis Blues, he played with the Atlanta Thrashers in the NHL, the Louisville Panthers, Chicago Wolves and Hershey Bears in the AHL, the Orlando Solar Bears in the IHL, the Greenville Grrrowl, Reading Royals, Arkansas Riverblades and Toledo Storm in the ECHL and the Bloomington PrairieThunder in the IHL.  

Overseas, he played in Germany’s second league, Austria’s first league and England’s first league. Scott has since coached in the IHL with the Bloomington Prairie Thunder, ECHL with the Cincinnati Cyclones, Tier III Juniors with the Atlanta Junior Knights and USA 14U AAA with the Tri-State Spartans.  He boasts a successful track record of developing players to their full potential and moving them to higher levels of Junior hockey as well as to NCAA D1/D3 and ACHA college programs. He also brings a winning track record, taking his EJHL South team on to win the USA Hockey Tier III Junior A National Championship (2012) in his first year with the Atlanta Junior Knights.

Scott is relocating to Evansville with his wife Lexie and 2 sons, Isaac and Gabe.
