The Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts struggled against the Atlanta Capitals allowing Talon Medure to score a hat trick as Evansville crushed Atlanta 9-0 in a home game at Swonder Ice Arena in Evansville. In addition, Kyle Konin posted a shutout, stopping all 15 of the Jr. Thunderbolts shots throughout the game. The Atlanta Capitals took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Michael Klintworth and never looked back.
Michael Klintworth had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Brody Nielsen delivered for his team with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).
During the first period, Klintworth opened the scoring for the Capitals with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 5:31. Medure netted a goal at 12:46 with helpers from his teammates Warner and Moore. Rusakov deposited a goal at 19:24 with helpers from Nielsen and Carlo.
In the second, Klintworth scored a goal at 2:29 with assists from Medure and Linde. Ladzinski netted a goal at 16:34 with an assist from his linemate Nielsen. Warner quickly followed with a goal at 18:21 with a helper from fellow Capitals forward Medure. Nielsen quickly followed with a goal at 19:45 with an assist from Ladzinski.
In the third period, Medure put in a goal at 4:10 with helpers from his linemates, Klintworth and Warner. Medure scored a goal at 8:14 with an assist from defenseman Lougheed.
This loss brings the Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts’ record to (0-1-0-0).
